What is at the heart of our service to the Great Britain Province?
At our last General Chapter we were all called to “Give new expression to the charismatic richness of the Family Spirit by living a spirituality of communion by a collaborative style of leadership”. (Acts of Chapter XX1, 35)
Our constitutions offer us clear guidelines of our service of leadership; “In our institute the service of leadership is lived in pastoral charity in fidelity to the Salesian Spirit. Its aim is to promote our communion as we grow in our vocation, in such a way that, while expressing the mystery of the People of God in the diversity of gifts and roles, we fulfil the mission the Lord has entrusted to us.” (Constitutions, article 108)
As Salesian Sisters we have a specific style of leadership that challenges each one of us.
The call to service rests not only with our Provincial and Leadership Team but begins at home in our communities…every sister is called to service…”We need communities in which the service of leadership is exercised through co-ordination which encourages collaboration and delegation.” (Acts of Chapter XX1, 35)
“The sisters carry out with equal responsibility the apostolic commitment received from the institute in the service of young people.”(Constitutions, article 163)
Over the last year, as a Leadership Team we have revisited how we have shared leadership in the life of our province, we looked at what was already there, and addressed new situations. There has been new life and new seeds sown. As province we now have Provincial Teams, Directors and Delegates all interrelated with our mission…let’s take a closer look.
